A selection of some yearly film festivals that take place around the island and celebrate the work of Cypriot filmmakers. During certain times of the year, these festivals are open for submissions where people can submit their works to be selected and showcased.

AEI – Cyprus Archaeological, Ethnographic and Historical Film Festival

Established in 2019, the aim of the Α.Ε.Ι. Audiovisual Forum is the development of cultural, historic, ethnographic and archaeological documentaries in Cyprus and the dissemination of the culture and history of Cyprus through various activities, in the heart of which is always the audiovisual sector.


ISFFC – International Short Film Festival of Cyprus

The International Short Film Festival of Cyprus is the official competition festival for short films in Cyprus, showcasing and celebrating an outstanding narrative, animated, documentary and experimental original short film content.


Cyprus Film Days International Film Days

Cyprus Film Days International Festival (CFD IFF) is the official competition festival of Cyprus dedicated to the art of the full-length fiction film.


Cyprus International Film Festival

Cyprus International Film Festival is the largest artistic event for independent films in the wider region. Surpassing the geographical boundaries of Cyprus became one global impact happening, with applications for participation from 95 countries.


Lemesos International Documentary Festival

The ‘Lemesos International Documentary Festival’ is part of Moving Docs, a new EDN initiative supported by Creative Europe, founded for the joint distribution of documentaries across Europe.


Drama International Short Film Festival

Drama International Short Film Festival is accredited as member festival of the European Film Academy’s Short Film Programme, presenting one of the European short films in competition with a candidacy in the short film category of the European Film Awards (EFA).


The Afro Banana Republic Festival

The Festival is organized by the non-profit organization “ABR – Alternative Brains Rule”. Its team is composed of young people from different professional fields, that are involved in the arts, and have set out to develop the Cypriot creative alternative scene. By providing a platform for these artists to produce and present their work, they allow for them to promote their art and themselves in Cyprus and the rest of the world.


Cyprus International Film Festival ‘Golden Aphrodite’

Cyprus International Film Festival’s mission is to support the first shown filmmakers with their first short or feature film, to meet and exchange cultures for the further development of Cinematographic Art in Cyprus, to promote our historical and cultural heritage to upgrade our tourism product and to internationally promote our alumni participants.
